Blue cards for hostels for children

A hostel is not a residential facility.

You need a blue card if you own or run a hostel for children that:

provides a child housing service
is funded by the Australian Government or the Queensland Department of Education
is not a residential facility.

This is a business category.

Business owners and operators

You need a blue card if your business provides a child accommodation service under a government funded program.

This includes housing for school-age students while they attend school.

The housing must not be:

Executive officers and board or committee members of a regulated child-related organisation may also need a blue card.

You need a blue card if you:

run housing for school-age students while they attend school
run a hostel that provides child housing funded by the Australian Government
run a hostel that provides child housing funded by the Department of Education
run a hostel that provides housing to children under a government-funded program
are a board or committee member of a hostel for children covered by these rules.

You do not need a blue card under this category if you:
