In order to continue working in child-regulated employment, we must receive your renewal application form before your current card expires.
We send you a reminder to renew 10 weeks before your current card expires. Make sure that you keep your contact details up to date, otherwise you will not receive your renewal reminder.
We can accept your renewal application up to 16 weeks before your current card expires.
Under the ‘No Card, No Start’ laws, you must hold a valid blue card to continue working in child-regulated employment. You must ensure the form is correctly completed, or it could delay your renewal application.

How to renew your blue or exemption card
To renew your blue or exemption card, you need to follow 3 simple steps.
- Have a customer reference number (CRN) from the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)
- Register for an online account. This is how we verify your identity and obtain the photo for your card.
- Apply for your blue or exemption card using the online applicant portal or download the paper form.
You will need to register for a Blue Card Services online account before you can apply to renew your blue or exemption card. You only need to register for an account once.
Once you have registered for your online account, you can log in to the online applicant portal.
You can also return later to log in and apply to renew your card.
