  • beef cattle grazing enterprises in addition to a small number of irrigated farms on the Gilbert River
  • the cattle industry in north Queensland following good seasons, high export numbers and a relatively low Australian dollar
  • increased rural property sale prices
  • demand for grazing properties, with cattle prices rebounding and export demand high.

  • Significant increases in value have been experienced in the town of Georgetown, whilst there was minimal change in Forsayth, Einasleigh and Mt Surprise.
  • Land valuation changes are coming from a low value threshold.

Explanatory notes

  • The commercial and industrial sectors within the Etheridge Shire LGA are small and discrete. Overall, there was a moderate increase in commercial values and overall significant increase to industrial land values.
  • Primary production land recorded a significant increase since the last revaluation issued in 2022. The cattle industry in north Queensland has generally been positive with good seasons, higher export numbers and a relatively low Australian dollar.
  • The Etheridge Shire LGA is known for its cattle breeding attributes, with producers sending young cattle south for growing out or fattening. With cattle prices rebounding and export demand high for the northern markets for cattle, grazing property is sought after.
