Blue cards for security providers
Security providers may need a blue card if they work in a regulated child-related setting for more than 7 days in a calendar year.
Not every place where children are present needs a blue card.
For example, security work at a shopping centre would not usually need a blue card.
Examples
You may need a blue card if you provide security at:
- residential facilities like a youth shelter while children are there
- education and care service like a early learning during opening hours
- churches, clubs and associations like at schoolies events
- school boarding facilities such as boarding house or dorms
- child accommodation services such as youth camps or places where children stay
- disability services that provide accommodation for children.
Business owners and employers
Business owners and employers must also meet their obligations under the blue card system.
