Costs and allowances

There are many costs associated with education. Some costs you may need to plan for include:

  • textbooks and stationery
  • uniforms
  • enrolment processing fees (for students living outside school catchment)
  • transport to/from school
  • subject fees
  • before and after school care
  • extra-curricular activities
  • school fees (private schools)
  • voluntary financial contributions
  • excursions, school camps, performances and formals.

Financial assistance may be available

There are many grants, allowances, scholarships and avenues of funding that might help you with some of these costs. There are usually some eligibility criteria.
