Crime and prevention resources
The Queensland Government works with Queensland Police Service to prevent crime. As part of its Making Queensland Safer commitment, there is now permanent funding to increase police operations and resources.
In addition to the 1139 new constables have been sworn in the last 12 months, $147.9 million will be invested in equipping officers with new tasers, body-worn cameras, radios, Tactical First Aid Kits and other vital equipment. Other new initiatives include the expansion of PolAir, the State Flying Squad and permanent Youth Crime Taskforce, both dedicated to rapid response on youth crime.

The Queensland Government has increased Queensland Police Service resources to reduce criminal and anti-social behaviours.

Crime Stoppers is a community program that helps the Queensland Police to solve crimes.
Neighbourhood Watch
Neighbourhood Watch Queensland is a key crime prevention program run by the Queensland Police Service. It encourages communities to join together to improve safety in their neighbourhood.
Youth Co-Responder Teams
Youth co-responder teams are a joint Youth Justice and Queensland Police Service initiative. Specialised teams consist of youth justice workers and police officers work responsively with youth to prevent or reduce offending and increase community safety.
End knife violence
New knife laws have come into effect in Queensland banning the sales of knives and particular controlled items to minors to reduce weapon accessibility among young people.
Safe night precincts
Safe night precincts (SNPs) were created to reduce late-night drug and alcohol-related violence. SNPs exist in key entertainment areas across Queensland.

Helping seniors secure their homes
Financial assistance of up to $10,000 is available to help eligible homeowners aged 60 and over install security measures to secure their home.

The new $40 million Secure Communities Partnerships Program will support councils to install critical safety upgrades including CCTV, alarm systems, security lighting and fencing to make local businesses safer.
New Beaudesert Courthouse
The Queensland Government has delivered a new $19.4 million courthouse in Beaudesert, the first since 2012.
Crime Prevention and Youth Justice Schools
The Queensland Government is providing $90 million to establish and expand specialised schools to provide targeted support for at-risk youth to enhance educational outcomes and reduce reoffending.
