Restoring safety where you live

The new Queensland Government is continuing to deliver initiatives to restore safety where you live.

Victim numbers are down 6.5%* and thousands of youth offenders have been charged with more than 14,000 offences under the landmark Adult Crime Adult Time laws.

But there’s more to be done.

That’s why the Queensland Government is:

  • Increasing police resources to target crime hotspots and expanding PolAir
  • Delivering significant investment into early intervention and rehabilitation programs to break the cycle of youth crime and rehabilitate youth offenders
  • Introducing Daniel’s Law to deliver the State’s first public child sex offender register
  • Tackling knife crime through Jack’s Law, giving police enhanced wanding powers in various public places

Adult Crime, Adult Time

The Queensland Government has delivered Adult Crime, Adult Time to restore consequences for actions.

Daniel's Law

The Queensland Government has introduced Daniel’s Law to Queensland Parliament, delivering the State’s first public child sex offender register.

Intervention, rehabilitation, and initiatives

The Queensland Government is delivering intervention and rehabilitation programs to support young people.

Crime and prevention resources

The Queensland Government works with Queensland Police Service to prevent crime. As part of its Making Queensland Safer commitment, there is now permanent funding to increase police operations and resources.

Victim support services

A range of support services are available to victims of crime committed in Queensland. The option that’s right for you depends on the type of crime experienced.

Jack’s Law

The Queensland Government has made Jack’s Law permanent, enabling police to use handheld metal detectors in high-risk locations without a warrant.
