Making Queensland Safer

We are Making Queensland Safer

The new Queensland Government is continuing to deliver initiatives to make Queensland Safer.

In late 2024, we launched the Making Queensland Safer laws, delivering for Queensland tough laws to restore safety in communities.

And now – the landmark Adult Crime, Adult Time laws have expanded from 13 to 33 serious crime offences that will see young offenders receive adult sentences.

In addition to the The Making Queensland Safer laws, the Queensland Government is:

  • Tackling knife crime through Jack’s Law, which will see police given enhanced wanding powers in various public places
  • Significant investment in additional police resources to target crime hotspots
  • And early intervention and rehabilitation programs to break the cycle of youth crime
  • Putting the rights of victims first in sentencing so Queenslanders feel safe in their homes and businesses

To keep making Queensland safer, the Queensland Government is expanding ‘adult crime adult time’ to include 33 serious offences.

We’re putting more police on the ground, and rapid response for crime hotspots
