Increased Queensland Police Service resources

The Queensland Government has increased Queensland Police Service resources to reduce criminal and anti-social behaviours.

New Queensland Police Service initiatives to Make Queensland Safer include:

  • Expansion of PolAir to the Sunshine Coast, and making the Cairns PolAir capability permanent
  • A 58-strong squad of specialist police officers who will fly to and from Queensland’s most high-risk areas. The State Flying Squad will ensure there is support in key locations where additional and specialist police presence is needed.
  • Increased police presence across communities, using marked cars, mobile police beats and foot patrols in hot spot areas
  • A fleet of 400 new police vehicles for frontline operations
