What you should know

There are requirements you must follow to submit a request for recovery expenses.

You can apply for travel expenses:

  • for airfares and accommodation if travelling a very long distance makes same-day travel unreasonable
  • for a support person to travel with you if their presence is necessary for your treatment or recovery
  • travel at least 20km (one way) or more than 150km in a week (7 consecutive days) from your home or workplace
  • use of a reasonable mode of transportation for your circumstances (e.g. private car, public transport, taxi, ride share, or plane for long distances).

Not all travel expenses will be covered. See Guidelines for financial assistance for travel expenses .
