Recovery expenses guidelines
The Director-General, Department of Justice (DoJ) may issue recovery expenses guidelines under section 131 of the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 .
Current technical guidelines:
- Guideline 1—Granting financial assistance for counselling expenses
- Guideline 2—Medical treatments to be included in financial assistance
- Guideline 3—Determining financial assistance for medical and counselling expenses
- Guideline 4—Granting financial assistance for travel expenses
- Guideline 5—Loss or damage to clothing
- Guideline 6—Granting financial assistance for security under exceptional circumstances
- Guideline 7—Granting financial assistance for loss of earnings
- Guideline 8—Granting assistance for relocation under exceptional circumstances

Table of costs
The Director-General, DoJ may issue a table of costs under section 132 of the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
The table of costs outlines reasonable costs that a victim of violence can claim. This is not an exhaustive list, which means costs that aren't on the list may still be claimed.
