Renew or restore a second-hand or pawnbroker licence

Renewing

A second-hand dealer or pawnbroker licence is valid for either 1 or 3 years, whichever you choose. You must renew your licence before it expires.

We will send you a renewal notice 1 month before the expiry date. If your licence is expiring and you haven’t received the renewal form, please contact us and ask for a new one.

You must lodge your renewal and pay the required fees before your licence expires.

You may only submit your form:

  • in person
  • by mail.

Continuing to work

You need to make sure that we receive your completed renewal form before your current licence expires. If you do, you can keep working while we process your renewal.

During this time, you must be able to produce:

  • a receipt from us for your renewal fee (you can ask for a receipt on your renewal form or by contacting us).

Restoring

If your licence expires, you may restore it within 14 days of the expiry date.

To restore it, send us:

  • the renewal form
  • the names and addresses of your associates
  • the fee

You may only submit your form:

  • in person
  • by mail.
