About the Supercharged Solar for Renters rebate
Rebate amounts
The rebate amount depends on the size (capacity) of the solar system.
System capacity of an eligible solar system refers to the capacity of the system’s inverter, or the total capacity of the system’s panels (whichever is lower).
| Solar PV system capacity | Rebate amount |
|---|---|
| At least 3 kilowatts (kW) but less than 4 kW | $2,500 |
| At least 4 kW but less than 5 kW | $3,000 |
| 5 kW or more | $3,500 |
Rebate availability
The Queensland Government has allocated $26.3 million for rebates under the program to help deliver our commitment to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy.
Once you have received conditional approval, funding will be set aside for your claim for up to 150 days.
The program is offered on a first in, first-served basis, with closure dates to be announced on this website.
Safety inspections
When applying for the rebate, you will be asked to agree to a free safety inspection of your installation at a time that is convenient for you and your tenants. Installations will be chosen at random for an inspection by the Queensland Government’s appointed energy programs inspectorate.
Information for property managers
Property managers may need to assist landlords and tenants to meet some requirements for participating in the program.
The fact sheets provided below will help you understand the eligibility criteria, application process and your potential involvement (e.g. ensuring the solar system is reflected in the lease agreement).
These fact sheets can also be shared with landlords or tenants who may be interested in the program.
GST and the rebate
The rebate payment will be whichever is lower – either the relevant amount according to system capacity (e.g. $3,500 for 5 kW or more) or the total amount paid for the system, including GST.
All rebate payments made under the program are not subject to GST.
Questions about how the rebate affects your personal taxation circumstances should be directed to your taxation advisor or the Australian Taxation Office on 13 72 86.
