Rural and remote education

Over half of Queensland’s state schools are located in rural and remote areas.

Financial assistance and extra services are offered so those students aren’t disadvantaged by their geographic location.

Schools of Distance Education

Schools of Distance Education deliver programs to students who can’t attend a state school. They also provide extension programs for students in secondary schools.

Home-based learners who choose not to attend a local school can also attend a School of Distance Education (for an annual fee).
