Types of schools and services offered
Distance education
Parents can enrol their child in a school of distance education. There are eligibility criteria and in some cases fees may be charged for this service. With distance education:
- school curriculum programs are provided for students
- teachers help monitor the child's learning and report on progress (as in state schools)
- the parent is the home tutor.

Home education
Parents who register their child for home education are required to:
- accept legal responsibility for their child's education
- provide a high-quality education for their child
- provide a suitable learning environment in the home.
Parents can choose to educate their child themselves or enlist a registered teacher.
