Find a range of activities that will keep you and your family motivated to be active every day.
- Getting active is not only an opportunity to spend quality time with your family, but it can improve your family’s health.
- Adults should be active most days, preferably every day, undertaking a variety of physical activities at different intensities, which can include
- moderate to vigorous intensity physical activities for 30 minutes or more on most days
- muscle-strengthening activities on 2 or more days a week
- functional activities targeting mobility, balance and coordination on 3 or more days a week
- several hours of light intensity physical activity daily.
- Children and young people aged 5 to 17 years should aim for at least 60 minutes of moderate- to vigorous intensity physical activity that makes the heart beat faster and several hours of light intensity physical activities each day.
- Children under 5 years of age should be involved in unstructured, active play, with children aged 1 to 5 years recommended to get at least 3 hours of various physical activities each day, including energetic play.
There are lots of activities you and your family can do together. Try family walks, bike riding or backyard cricket. You can also check out your local parks, bike ways, swimming pools and walking trails.

Join a club

- Your local council may have a list of clubs you can join or activities families can participate in together.
