Walking towards better health
Heart Foundation Walking is Australia's largest free walking community.
For more than 20 years, thousands of Australians have participated in the walking program. Heart Foundation Walking is part of a broader Heart Foundation goal to encourage and support walking and physical activity to build the heart health of Australia.
Regular physical activity is associated with a range of health benefits, including:
- reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke
- healthier blood pressure and cholesterol levels
- better blood sugar regulation and a lower risk of type 2 diabetes
- lower risk of some cancers
- support for bone health
- improved balance, coordination and physical function.
How to get involved
Join your local walking group or download the Heart Foundation Walking app to walk solo. Walking doesn't have to look the same for everyone. Start with what feels manageable and build up over time. Visit Heart Foundation Walking or call 13 11 12 to find out more.
