Toppling furniture safety consultation
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) sought submissions on proposed policy options to help reduce the risk of death and injury associated with toppling furniture.
A consultation paper from the ACCC has been released about the 3 well understood concepts that are important to reducing the risk of injury associated with toppling furniture:
- product design
- anchoring
- consumer education.
Responses are helping the ACCC determine a preferred regulatory option.
