About this program

Queensland Treasury's graduate program is an opportunity to achieve great things for yourself and for Queensland by working with highly skilled professionals in a diverse and flexible environment.

As a GRADStart graduate, you receive a 2-year temporary contract with Queensland Treasury. You will rotate through different work areas, gain an understanding of Treasury's diverse responsibilities and build a broad range of skills. You'll participate in a variety of training programs including specific skills development and leadership coaching, providing an opportunity to build valuable relationships and networks that will assist your career.

Your client mindset is balanced with a commitment to delivering excellence in meeting priorities for Queensland communities.

Program eligibility

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • are a recent university graduate (within the last 2 years) or due to graduate before the program commences in February 2027
  • are an Australian citizen, or a person who resides in Australia and has permission under the law of the Commonwealth to work in Australia
  • have undertaken or are undertaking university undergraduate or post-graduate studies in at least one of the targeted disciplines.

Additional information for international students

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • can provide evidence of your visa type, status and entitlements to work prior to starting employment with us. Right to work must be maintained through employment. For more information on right to work and visa conditions visit the Department of Home Affairs
  • have obtained overseas qualification recognition if you received your degree outside of Australia.

Our recruitment process

The online application form will ask you several questions so Treasury can learn more about you. This will include your:

  • personal and demographic information
  • education and qualifications.

Our online platform will take you through cognitive, personality and behavioural testing.

Based on the outcome of your online assessment, you may be selected to participate in an online video interview and assessment.

Selected applicants will be invited to an interview with our GRADStart selection panel at Treasury's 1 William Street, Brisbane workplace. If you are unable to attend in person, a virtual interview can be arranged.

At this stage, Treasury will complete pre-employment screening checks including requesting references, criminal history and confirming you're eligible to work in Australia.

Treasury will aim to make offers by mid-September 2026 once all interviews are completed.
