Receiving blue card notifications
We notify organisations about:
- blue card and exemption card decisions
- workers who are linked to your organisation.
Linking lets us to tell you if a worker's blue card or exemption card status changes.
If your organisation is regulated under the blue card system, you must link applicants and card holders before they start working or volunteering.
How you receive notifications
If your organisation uses the Organisation Portal, you can view notifications in the notices tab.
If you do not use the Organisation Portal, we send notifications by email.
Sensitive notifications
We send some sensitive or confidential information by post to your nominated representative.
This includes when:
- a negative notice is issued
- a card is suspended
- a card is cancelled.
You can view your nominated representative's details in the Organisation Portal.
If you do not use the portal
If your organisation does not use the Organisation Portal, we will email you when a linked worker’s blue card or exemption card is approved or renewed.
The email includes a spreadsheet listing all approved and renewed cards linked to your organisation.
We recommend using a shared email address, such as bluecardadmin@organisation.com.au
This helps your organisation get notifications when staff are away or leave the organisation.
Keep your records up to date
When you get a notification, update your employee register or other staff records.
Keeping your records up to date helps meet your obligations under the blue card system.
Make sure you receive notifications
To avoid missing important updates:
- keep your organisation’s contact details up-to-date
- use a shared email address for notifications
- update your organisation’s details when they change
- review your internal processes for handling notifications.
