My Home Awards
The My Home Awards recognise and celebrate the time people living in Queensland's public housing take to establish and maintain beautiful gardens and how their work helps improve their local communities.
Entry into the 2018 My Home Awards has now closed.
You live in a detached house and your garden is not suited to any other category.
You live in a unit, townhouse, or apartment and you have a small garden or a cluster of pot plants in your courtyard.
Edible/bush tucker garden
Your garden is mostly vegetables, fruits, herbs or edible Australian bush tucker plants.
You live in a unit, townhouse, or apartment and you have a small garden or a cluster of pot plants on your balcony.
The garden promotes water-wise techniques such as mulching and composting, and includes plants that require low-moisture environments.
For first time entrants.
Gardens that have been mostly made by young people under the age of 18 years. It doesn’t have to be the whole yard; it can just be part of the garden.
The garden is located in the common grounds of a complex. It may be the work of a single gardener or a group of tenants and can be any garden type.
Judging will take place in September 2018. Entries will be judged on the variety, quality, colour, tidiness and relevance of their garden to the nominated category. You will be notified when your garden will be judged.
All entrants will receive a garden pack, certificate and photo of their garden.
Prize winners will receive hardware vouchers to the value of:
- $80 for first prize
- $50 for runner up
- $30 for highly commended.
Judging will take place in September 2018. Everyone who enters the awards will be invited to attend an award ceremony in their nearest Housing Service Centre area.
