Reviewable properties

Some public housing properties are identified as reviewable properties. This is based on the number of bedrooms and/or wheelchair accessibility of the property.

If your tenancy commenced on or after 1 October 2026, a reviewable property is:

  • a home with 3 or more bedrooms, or
  • a home that is fully wheelchair accessible.

If your tenancy commenced before 1 October 2026, a reviewable property is:

  • a home with 5 or more bedrooms, or
  • a home that is fully wheelchair accessible.

What if I live in a reviewable property?

If you live in a reviewable property, we will ask you to provide information to confirm that you still need:

  • the number of bedrooms in the property, and/or
  • a wheelchair accessible home.

For example, if you live in a wheelchair accessible property, you will need to show that the person requiring wheelchair accessibility still lives there or stays there often.

We will tell you what information is required and when you need to return this to us.

If you provide evidence that you still need the property, you will not have to move.

We will regularly review your circumstances to make sure you are still eligible to live in the property.

What if I can't prove I still need the reviewable property?

If you no longer need the size or type of property, you may need to move to a social housing property that meets your current needs and bedroom entitlements.

We will not ask you to move unless someone on the housing register needs the reviewable property you live in.

If you need to move, we will

  • work with you to find a social housing property that meets your needs
  • give you time to prepare to move
  • pay reasonable moving costs.

If you refuse all offers to transfer to a more suitable property or do not work with us, we will end your tenancy, and you will need to move out.

What if I can’t afford to move or have made improvements to the home?

If you are required to move, we can help with reasonable moving costs.

If you have made improvements to the property, we may pay you reasonable costs of the improvement, as long as:

  • you had prior approval from us
  • they were performed by a qualified contractor
  • they add value to the property.

You can remove any improvements you paid for and take them with you as long as you return the property to its original condition.
