‘I’m proud to be born and raised in Queensland. I believe the future for Queensland women will be what we decide it to be.

‘As society is becoming more aware and understanding of people who identify as non-binary, I believe this provides an opportunity for equity and equality, regardless of gender. This will give those who have felt confined by gender roles within personal and career spheres a chance to define their own path and purpose in society.

‘I believe the biggest issue facing Queensland women is expectation and criticism by the media and others if we are unable to fit the criteria that is set for us. It is far too often that we see women who are forging their own path cut down by spectators’ opinions of whether they are fitting what is seen to be acceptable. We need to respect and encourage authenticity, differences, choice, having a voice and following our passions fearlessly, and call out the commentators who impose restricting or harmful ideas and criticisms upon us and others.

‘During Queensland Women’s Week 2021, I will be celebrating the exceptional women who have beaten the odds, created their own path and taken a risk on themselves. I am grateful and lucky to be surrounded by strong women who have overcome adversity and have had the courage to create the life they want to live for themselves.’
