‘I am the Founder and CEO of RizeUp, the Queensland-founded, national, not-for-profit organisation that provides vital practical support for families fleeing domestic and family violence.

‘My passion for charity work began when I assisted an acquaintance to set up after leaving a violent relationship. The injustice of domestic and family violence sparked my fire and I recognised the importance of community in helping families break the cycle of violence.

‘I am an accomplished TEDx speaker, podcast guest, twice Westfield Hero and Commonwealth Games 2018 Queen’s Baton Relay bearer. Managing over 750 volunteers, my team has created new beginnings for almost 2,000 families to date.

‘Queensland women are faced with challenges that arise from gender inequality. 2020 provided an opportunity to see the resilience, determination and courage that Queensland women hold in spades.

‘We need to see more female leaders stepping forth to ensure women’s voices are heard and included. We need to consistently challenge societal norms, speak out against injustice and continue to walk alongside those who are faced with adversity.

‘No matter what their field, Queensland women are dynamic, strong and have great capacity to affect change by being community advocates.’
