Western Queensland Flooding 

Sport and active recreation organisations impacted by the Western Queensland Surface Trough and associated rainfall and flooding between 21 March and 19 May 2025 may be eligible for funding to help repair, rebuild or restore damaged facilities.

Eligible approved organisations may be able to retrospectively claim eligible recovery costs incurred from March 2025 following discussions with the department.

What funding can be used for

Eligible organisations can apply for a minimum of $20,000 (GST exclusive) up to a maximum of $1 million (GST exclusive) for each eligible project site subject to funding availability. This may include:

  • assessing assets or facilities only where event damage or impact is found
  • repairing / restoring damaged sport and active recreation and racing infrastructure damaged by an eligible extraordinary event that directly relates to the re-establishment of sport and recreational and racing facilities
  • rebuilding/replacing infrastructure and/or assets when it has been deemed irreparable or cost prohibitive

Eligible costs must be directly related to the delivery of the approved project and must not have commenced prior to the date of the declared extraordinary disaster event during which the asset or facilities were damaged, namely March 2025.

Applications should be made through the online grants system.

Step 2: Complete the online application

  1. Enter the required organisation information into Enquire. A completed project cost sheet must be uploaded to the application.
  1. Complete the application.

Step 3: Submit the application Only submit the application once it is fully complete. Applications at a status of ‘submitted’ cannot be retrieved or edited by the applicant. A completed project cost sheet must accompany all applications3.All applications must be received within the timeframes outlined within the Key Dates of the program guidelines.
