Entry opportunities
To become a police officer, you must undertake a recruit training program. Depending on your background and experience, there is a range of pathways.
- Recruit Training Program—for those with no policing experience.
- First Nations Recruit Preparation Pathway (FNRPP)—for people who identify as Indigenous Australians and wish to prepare for direct entry into the Recruit Training Program.
- Multicultural Recruit Preparation Pathway (MRPP)—for culturally and linguistically diverse people who wish to prepare for direct entry into the Recruit Training Program.
- Previous police experience (ex-QPS)—for former QPS officers who wish to return to a policing career.
- Previous interstate police experience (non-QPS)—for current or recently serving police officers in other Australian jurisdictions.
- Previous international police experience—for current or recently serving police officers outside Australia.
