About our Digital Graduate Program

The Digital Graduate Program is your opportunity to get a head start on your career. Recent graduates enter the program on a 2-year paid placement with the Queensland Government, contributing to a digital Queensland while working on exciting and innovative digital and IT projects.

The program commences in March each year and is based primarily in Brisbane. Successful graduates are offered entry-level digital tech or customer support roles, access to support, training, networking, conferences and the ability to grow their skills and knowledge.

We provide graduates with support and professional development to give them the tools and confidence to transition from graduate to IT or digital professional.

Our graduates will contribute to helping the Queensland Government deliver public services like health, education, transport, infrastructure, police and emergency services.

Career progression

Due to their experience and training, our graduates can progress their careers very quickly. Eighty-seven percent of graduates completing the program stay on to be employed by the Queensland Government post-program. Our graduates’ salaries increase up to $22,000 or more after completing the 2-year program.

The program provides great learning and development opportunities to ensure you have the tools and confidence to bridge the transition from graduate to digital professional.

Our award-winning learning and development program is considered one of the best graduate programs in Australia. We expect you to come with some knowledge from university but will teach you about government and help you develop the soft skills required to succeed.

Graduates may receive an offer of employment from one or multiple departments. The nature of work may vary depending on the department. Graduates receive opportunities to work on different projects and in different roles, travel, and progress their careers through learning and development.

It’s not just technical IT, we’re looking for graduates in all aspects of IT development, customer service, design and delivery of services to Queenslanders.

Graduates need to have completed a bachelor's degree in IT or a related field within the last 3 years, or expect to finish their studies by the start of the program in March of the intake year.

Applicants must be an Australian or New Zealand citizens or have permanent residency in Australia.

You must also be available to start work in March of each intake year or sooner if requested.

We need graduates with a willingness to learn and a good attitude. We welcome candidates with a Bachelor, Graduate Certificate, or Master’s degree in any of the following areas:

  • information technology, cloud computing, cyber security, computer science, data analytics, robotics, telecommunications, information management, mathematics
  • business, marketing, procurement
  • project management, law, creative industries
  • web and multimedia design, user experience design.

Recruitment will re-open in July 2023 for the 2024 cohort.
