Woorabinda water supply improvement project
Delivered in partnership by the Australian Government and Queensland Government. The Woorabinda Water Supply Improvement project will provide long-term solution to the community's water quality and demand challenges.
The water infrastructure upgrades include:
- Urgent Water Treatment Plant (WTP) upgrade to lift the boil water alert - includes improvements to the existing water treatment plant to reinstate its functional designs, enabling council to effectively monitor water quality and adjust chemical dosing in response to changes in raw water conditions.
- Construction of a new Water Treatment Plant - includes new filtration, UV disinfection and chemical dosing systems, associated pipework, and modern control and automation systems incorporating SCADA.
- Upgrades to raw water and potable water infrastructure – includes upgrades to the raw water infrastructure, reservoir, reticulation network, and fire protection infrastructure as required.
The project team will consult with all stakeholders throughout the project. They will work closely with the Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council and the local community to consider water safety and reliability issues.
