International Volunteer Day

Every year on 5 December we recognise International Volunteer Day (IVD), a day for volunteers and organisations to celebrate their efforts, share their values, and promote their work to the community.

The theme for 2022, Solidarity through Volunteering, highlights the value of volunteers and their ability to create positive change. The act of volunteering and the solidarity it demonstrates, helps to provide at least some support to the ones who need it the most.

IVD is also a chance to look for opportunities on how you can volunteer within your community. Volunteering Queensland, funded by the Queensland Government, is a great place to go if you are looking to volunteer or just need more information on how to get involved.

Encouraging, recognising, and promoting volunteering is an important part of creating a more equal and inclusive future for communities worldwide.
