Industries and businesses excel

Our priority is that existing and emerging businesses and industries will have access to, and support to adopt, digital technologies to help them adapt, grow, compete and innovate.

Queensland’s economy is changing. Economic transformation was underway before the global COVID-19 pandemic began. New industries will continue to emerge because Queensland is influenced by and responds to global technology trends and other drivers.

We want to enable all Queensland businesses to take advantage of the opportunities that digital technologies bring.

Our 10-year goals

  • Queensland’s industries are transformed by effectively embracing and using new digital technologies.
  • Queensland is competitive in supporting and attracting new businesses and innovative digital start-ups.
  • Use the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games as a catalyst for a digital legacy that is attractive to business and enhances Queensland’s liveability.

Future opportunities

The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games represent Queensland’s single greatest economic opportunity—in direct economic and social benefits, job creation, and its potential to transform Queensland.

The successful digitisation of Queensland’s industries will require new partnerships between industry and academia, and small and large businesses so we can develop talent, test innovative solutions and identify new opportunities.

A focus on digital markets and innovation can also encourage demand for First Nations businesses, products and services.

We will work with organisations, industry bodies and academia to ensure Queensland-based businesses have access to the talent they need so they can tackle digital-age challenges.
