Wages and entitlements

School-based apprentices and trainees are a particular type of employee and are entitled to their own specific wage arrangements and entitlements.

They must work and be paid for a minimum number of days for each year of their school-based apprenticeship or traineeship.

Training contracts that commenced or re-commenced:

  • on or after 1 January 2013 require paid employment for a minimum of 50 days each year
  • prior to 1 January 2013 require paid employment for a minimum of 48 days each year.

All training contracts in electrotechnology require paid employment for a minimum of 80 days each year.

Wages and entitlements (e.g. tool allowance) are managed by the Fair Work Infoline and vary depending on the award or agreement you are employed under.

Contact the Fair Work Infoline on 13 13 94 for details relating to your apprenticeship or traineeship.
