Costs and financial help
Costs
Training
You and/or your employer may be required to pay for all or part of your training for your school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SAT).
Some supervising registered training organisations (SRTOs) are registered as preferred suppliers and are funded by the government to provide training to apprentices and trainees at a reduced cost (sometimes the whole cost is covered). This is known as User Choice funding.
To find out if User Choice funding is available for your SAT:
- search the Queensland Training Information Service for your chosen SAT
- call Apprenticeships Info on 1800 210 210
- talk to your school.
Where your chosen SAT is not funded under User Choice, costs may be higher.
If you have already chosen an SRTO, they can advise you about the cost of your training.
Other costs
You may have to cover the costs of:
- uniforms and equipment
- textbooks and other study materials
- parking or transport costs (to attend work or training)
- accommodation.
The financial help listed below may cover some of these costs.
