Eligibility and how to apply

Applications for the Queensland Indigenous Youth Leadership Program (QIYLP) open Monday 17 August 2026 and close at 5pm on Sunday 20 September 2026.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for QIYLP, you must:

• be aged 18 to 25 years old at the time of the program (December 2026)
• identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
• currently reside in Queensland
• not have participated in the program previously.

How to apply

We want the application process for QIYLP to be as easy for you as possible.

There are 3 ways you can nominate for the program, including in writing or over the phone:

1. Submit your nomination using the online application form.
2. Complete your nomination using the downloadable template (DOCX, 812.5 KB) and email it to us at QIYLP@hpw.qld.gov.au.
3. If you need help with your nomination, email us at QIYLP@hpw.qld.gov.au and include your best contact number. We’ll arrange a time to call that works for you.
   During the call, we’ll ask you the questions from the nomination form so you can say your answers out loud. We’ll do the writing for you and make sure your responses are all set.
   You can also ask us any questions or chat about anything you’re unsure of.
