Report an issue

If you notice an issue in Sunshine Coast waterways, you can report it. Include as much information as possible to help authorities take appropriate action.

Maritime Safety Queensland is the maritime regulator responsible for ship safety and marine pollution in Queensland waters. Maritime Safety Queensland, along with the Queensland Water Police and Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol, will remain on the water to monitor and enforce the rules. If you notice an issue, you can report it.

What to report

Dangerous or illegal activity, boating behaviour or marine pollution

If you see someone operating a boat or jet ski dangerously or breaking the rules on the water, include:

  • location
  • time
  • type of vessel
  • the behaviour observed

Damaged or missing aids to navigation

If you notice a damaged, missing, or malfunctioning aid to navigation, such as a buoy or beacon, include:

  • location
  • type of aid to navigation
  • nature of the issue

For urgent or unsafe situations

Contact the Queensland Water Police by calling Triple Zero (000) or your local police station.

For non-urgent matters

Contact Maritime Safety Queensland.
