Garage Sale Trail
The Queensland Government is providing $300,000 over four years to support the Garage Sale Trail.
The Garage Sale Trail helps to support Queenslanders to reduce the generation of household waste going to landfill, by reusing clothing and household items.
477 tonnes of household items were kept in use and out of landfill in 2025 by over 330,000 Australians who shopped or sold at nearly 13,500 garage sales across the country.
Garage Sale Trail took place in November 2025 with a series of free online masterclasses and two big weekends of garage sales.
The 2025 Queensland campaign saw more than 45,600 Queenslanders shopping or selling second hand, with more than 112,000 household items sold and reused of which 28% would otherwise have gone to landfill. This generated more than $1,000,000 for the local economy and earnt household sellers an average of $761.

Extending the life of our clothing and household items through reuse and repurposing is a simple action we can all take to keep valuable materials in circulation, reduce waste sent to landfill and put some extra money back into the pockets of Queenslanders. The 2026 dates are:
