Jinibara Rangers work across their country, which encompasses four clan group areas—Dungidau centred on Kilcoy, Villeneuve and Mount Archer, Dala from around Woodford and Mount Mee, Nalbo of the Blackall Range and areas of the Glasshouse Mountains and Garumngar, from the rolling country between the Brisbane River and around Lake Manchester and Mount Crosby.

Their priorities include:

  • mapping and recording fauna and flora including species of cultural significance and rare and endangered status
  • weed and feral management, participating in pest control with surrounding ranger groups
  • traditional burning including with neighbouring ranger groups, and cultural burn training and mentorship
  • wetlands protection, including water quality testing and monitoring, water country patrols, and participating in Waterwatch at strategic sites
  • educational opportunities for young Jinibara people; and participation in Kids in Action
  • cultural heritage mapping and cultural site management and protection of sacred sites.
