The Normanby rangers manage Normanby Station and are actively engaged in sustainable natural resource management practices to maintain the cultural and environmental values of country.

  • Recording and conservation of rock art and cultural heritage sites through vegetation and fire management and exclusion fencing.
  • Fire management for healthy country incorporating traditional knowledge and other best-practices.
  • Feral animal management and cattle removal and exclusion fencing to protect sensitive and important ecosystems and cultural sites.
  • Management and control of sicklepod, rubbervine and priority weed species.
  • Large-scale soil conservation and erosion mitigation works to reduce sediment loads in the Normanby River and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
