Grain Sediment Reduction Program

The Grain Sediment Reduction Program provides $1.75 million in grants to support dry land broadacre grain and forage cropping producers in the Fitzroy region undertake on-ground work and practices that reduce sediment loss and improve farm productivity. Grants are provided on a co-contribution basis to successful recipients.

The program is funded through the Queensland Reef Water Quality Program and supported by the Department of Primary Industries (DPI).

Round 1 grant applications now closed

Grant applications closed at 3pm on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.

Eligible producers were invited to apply for grants up to $100,000, with successful landholders required to co-contribute either financially or in-kind towards the funding received. The focus of the funding was to support cost-effective projects and activities that minimised sediment loss through work such as:

  • repairing or establishing contour banks or erosion control structures
  • improving ground cover, drainage or soil health
  • improving crop management practices to reduce sediment loss.
