EcoMarines Foundation

The Queensland Government is providing $1,689,500 funding over five years to EcoMarines Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that supports school students to be environmental leaders through education and positive action, through peer-to-peer networks (kids teaching kids).

EcoMarines Foundation offers free programs for early learning centres and schools based in Queensland to lead environmental projects and activities within the school and local environment. The EcoMarines education program includes themes of waste reduction, recycling and composting, as well as cultural awareness activities.

Their programs and events enable EcoMarines’ schools to network with one another, connect with local businesses and government representatives, and learn from Traditional Custodians.

Over 400,000 students have already been engaged though the EcoMarines Foundation programs.

The funding will support EcoMarines Foundation to expand from 90 schools in 2022 to 560 schools, including those in regional areas, over the next five-years.
