TAFE Queensland and CQUniversity are the public providers of vocational education and training (VET) in Queensland.

Qualifications

TAFE Queensland teachers must have:

  • a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or be willing to get one)
  • vocational skills—at least to the level of those you want to teach
  • current industry skills—relevant to the subjects you want to teach.

A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is a nationally-recognised qualification. It allows you to assess and teach students in vocational education and training in areas like those listed below.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment courses are offered at TAFE Queensland. They’re also available at other institutions and colleges around the state (known as registered training organisations). Find courses offered at registered training organisations.

Your skills

Your existing skills, experience or qualifications may be recognised in the course requirements. This is called credit transfer and recognition of prior learning (RPL). It could count towards your qualification.
