Services

The service aims to improve the health and wellbeing of women in rural and remote areas of Queensland. The Mobile Women's Health Service is made up of specially trained registered nurses based throughout Queensland who provide a free and confidential service for Queensland women. The Mobile Women's Health Service provides a range of health services for women including: clinical and screening services, education, information, information and support on a range of women's health issues. In some areas an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women's health worker assists the nurse in meeting the needs of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. The service complements and works with other health services including local general practitioners, outreach gynaecology specialists, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and allied health staff. The Mobile Womens' Health Service provides: cervical screening (Pap smears) - breast care - sexual health screening. The Service also provides information and support on: family planning and contraception - menopause and hormone replacement - osteoporosis - bladder problems - period concerns - sexuality concerns - puberty - domestic violence and sexual assault - healthy lifestyles including nutrition, weight and stress management - health promotion and education on a range of topics. The service supports all women, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and women from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
