Keeping native animals
New regulations are now in place for keeping, breeding or trading native animals in Queensland.
The new animal licencing framework replaces the previous commercial and recreational animal keeping licences with three new Native Animal Licences:
- Standard
- Specialised
- Advanced.
The type of licence you can apply for will depend on the number of animals you have and on your intention to keep, breed or trade them.
The new licences introduce simpler, online record keeping and in some cases, reduced fees. There are no changes to existing Recreational Wildlife or Commercial Wildlife Licences until they expire, however you can choose to move across to the new licence types at any time.
