The Queensland Government and Neighbourhood Centre sector have joined forces in the creation of a shared vision to generate extraordinary social value for the state’s communities.

Across Queensland, there is an extensive network of 128 government funded Neighbourhood Centres supporting communities called home by more than 5.2 million Queenslanders.

Neighbourhood Centres provide critical social infrastructure, play a key part in building community connection and cohesion, and provide services and supports that help the lives of hundreds of thousands of Queenslanders that visit them each year.

They are inclusive and welcoming of everyone, and provide invaluable community development activities and events that respond to the unique needs and priorities of their local communities.

CAPTION: Neighbourhood Centres across Queensland provide inclusive support services to every one in their local communities.

The Neighbourhood Centres – our shared vision for a vibrant Neighbourhood Centre system in Queensland(our shared vision) offers the building blocks for achieving the Queensland Government’s Communities 2032 vision of supporting and empowering every person to connect, participate, contribute and thrive in their communities.

Our shared vision will support a whole-of-government approach to investment in Neighbourhood Centres, building a bridge between the government’s policy objectives to improve local community outcomes, and the sectors history of achievement and demonstrated strengths and capabilities.

Through our shared vision, the Queensland Government and Neighbourhood Centres sector aim to support Neighbourhood Centres across Queensland to:

  • promote the great work they do
  • build and attract new investment funding
  • strengthen operational best practice
  • shape a single contemporary voice for service delivery
  • showcase and encourage careers in the sector.
