Sunshine Coast Community Forum updates showcase the actions being taken by Forum members to progress shared regional goals and opportunities and address regional challenges.

Check out the updates below to discover how partnerships between Government and the Sunshine Coast Coast community work to ensure the Sunshine Coast is one of the best places to live and work.

The inaugural Sunshine Coast Community Forum (Forum) was held at Baringa Community Centre on 23 November 2023. Forum members attended a networking breakfast with key stakeholders before gathering with the Hon Grace Grace MP, the then Minister for Education, Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for Racing, as well as Co-Chairs Rob Skelton MP and Jason Hunt MP to learn about the Forum program.

Representatives from the Department of Education, Economic Development Queensland, and Sunshine Coast Council informed Forum members about the projects forecast for the region as well as major bodies of work already underway.

Forum members collaborated to identify the region’s challenges and opportunities and key priorities for the region including accessible transport, paving the way for youth, affordable and social housing, delivering opportunities through the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games – including sport and events.

Members will now create a Forum Action Plan and establish Forum Working Groups as they further build their partnership with government over the two-year series.
