About the region

More than 302,000 people populate the Wide Bay/Burnett/Fraser Coast region which covers more than 48,502 square kilometres of Queensland.

The region is home to the largest Queensland population outside of the South East corner and has a widely dispersed settlement pattern made up of diverse communities.

It stretches from the fertile soils of the Burnett to the beautiful waters at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef.

The region is made up of coastal and inland towns including Bundaberg, Gympie, Hervey Bay, Kingaroy and Maryborough which are complemented by smaller rural, seaside and historical settlements including Cherbourg, Childers, Gayndah, Kilkivan and Tin Can Bay.
