Expressions of interest for 2024–2025 Regional Community Forum membership were open from 6 November to 1 December 2023.
We will announce new 2024–2025 Regional Community Forum members in each of the seven regions in early 2024.
This is a highly rewarding position that I’m very grateful for. Different people come from different parts of our communities in Western Queensland and have different ways of thinking and different backgrounds and different knowledge. About the region
Western Queensland is the heart of our state’s outback. The rolling red sand dunes stretch across seemingly endless horizons.
From Birdsville to Boulia, Alpha, Tambo, Longreach and everywhere in between, Western Queensland covers more than 396,000 square kilometres and seven local government areas. It is also home to Australia’s smallest town – Beetoota – with a population of one.
The region is known for its exquisite beauty, cultural and historical richness, quirky events and tourist attractions. Some of the most recognisable landscapes in Western Queensland can be found on the big screens thanks to Winton’s association with the film industry.
It also boasts a multi-million-dollar agricultural industry that includes beef, sheep and goats.
