Grandparents Day

In 2012, Grandparents Day will be on Sunday 4 November. Grandparents Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of November each year and is a chance for grandchildren, children and the community to thank grandparents for their love and support.

Planning a day with your family is a fun way to stay connected to your grandchildren.

Seniors Week

Seniors Week is an opportunity for Queenslanders of all ages and backgrounds to join together and celebrate the valuable contributions of seniors.

To highlight the benefits of a positive attitude to life at any age, the theme for Seniors Week 2011 was 'Positively Ageless'. More than 50 Seniors Week events were held across Queensland to:

  • improve community attitudes towards older people and ageing
  • facilitate community participation and activity by older people, including those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • enhance community connections and inter-generational relationships.

In 2012, Seniors Week will be held from 18-26 August.

Search for Seniors Week events or read about the Premier's Awards for Queensland Seniors.

Each year, Queensland hosts a vibrant and diverse range of events, including conferences, festivals, and the Royal Queensland Show (the Ekka).
