Centrelink can offer support and financial help through services such as rent assistance, direct bill paying and crisis payments.

Mortgage Relief loans

Mortgage Relief loans offer short-term assistance if you are experiencing difficulties with your home loan repayments.

No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS)

The No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) is available to low-income individuals and families. It is a community-based program enabling you to access interest free loans and credit for the purchase of essential goods and services.

Banks and financial institutions

Some financial institutions offer products to assist financially disadvantaged consumers, such as savings-incentive products and concessions on bank fees. Some credit unions offer short-term loans for as little as $200, with terms starting at 3 months.

Utility service providers

There are options available if you are having trouble paying utility bills. Talk to your service provider about payment plan options, or read more about government support with the cost of living.
