Work experience and volunteering

It is important to find people that are right for your work experience or volunteering program. This kind of experience offers people a start in the employment world. Volunteers may also help your business deliver more services, especially in areas like community support.

Develop a program

When developing a program, your planning should include:

  • choosing people with the right skills that best fit your business
  • keeping volunteers motivated (especially if unpaid) with things like morning teas, certificates of recognition, and showing them they are a valued part of the team
  • awareness of their workplace health and safety needs
  • having public liability insurance and/or personal accident insurance for non-employees working with you.
