Volunteering with SES

The State Emergency Service (SES) is a volunteer-based organisation empowering people to help themselves and others in times of emergency and disaster.

In Queensland, the SES responds at local and national levels in disasters and emergencies, and is the primary response agency for storms and floods.

SES volunteers are 'ordinary people doing extraordinary things'. Volunteering with the SES is a challenging and rewarding way to give back to your community.

Volunteer roles

Roles (PDF, 1.45 MB) in the SES vary from responding to emergencies to teaching the community how to be prepared for disasters. If you want to help, we'll find a way to use your talents and expertise.

Training

All SES volunteers receive comprehensive training to ensure they have the skills and knowledge they need to do their work safely and effectively.
