Access to information about adoption

Adoption Services Queensland can help you access information about an adoption that occurred in Queensland.

To be eligible you must be:

  • an adopted person (if the adopted person is under 18 years old, the consent of the adoptive parents and birth parents is required)
  • a birth parent
  • a relative (a spouse, parent, sibling or child of the adopted person or birth parent).             

Post Adoption Support Queensland

Post Adoption Support Queensland is a non-government agency funded to provide counselling and support to people affected by adoption. Their services include:

  • telephone counselling and support
  • face-to-face counselling
  • support and information during the search process
  • mediation and help for people who want to make contact with relatives.
